Editor’s note : We asked George West to write ‘a little something’ about himself, but what he gave us was a lot more.

Father, Husband, veteran, patriot, or all of the above?
Born in the Naval hospital in Charleston SC, he was raised in eastern Kentucky until his family moved to Florida for his fathers work.

As a child George was very outspoken and defiant to any authority figure. Which did not endear him to the adults in his life.

“I just didn’t feel like I fit in…anywhere, so I stopped trying.”

George enlisted in the US Navy after high school, and proudly served for 5 years.

After his discharge he bounced around the country from job to job trying to figure out his next move.

His resume includes a laundry list of skills which were useful a couple of centuries ago, and he is the worlds OKest guitar player.

It was in the Magic City that things started to happen for him. He found work at a radio station as the overnight board operator, and proceeded to work his way up the chain at the station. After a few years of working behind the scenes he landed a job as a producer for the TV show Florida on Wheels and started teaching radio at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting.

George has never forgotten what is was like for him “coming up the hard way”.

He is still defiant to authority, and his “devil may care” attitude has worked well for him as a talk show host, but not much else.

“I have lost jobs and friends, but never my dignity. I like who I see in the mirror, and that’s what matters.

“George lives and works in Miami Florida with his wife and 3 daughters.

That was  much harder than I thought it would be.
