This winter, Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) will launch PAMM Inside|Out, a program funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, which brings high-quality reproductions of art from PAMM’s permanent collection to outdoor venues. The nine-month program will kick off in the Miami-Dade County communities of Hialeah, Homestead and West End with a calendar of related events and programs, including a community weekend at the museum on Labor Day weekend, September 3-5, 2016.

“Inside|Out brings great art into people’s everyday lives and neighborhoods, it’s a delightful way to make art general in Miami,” said Victoria Rogers, Knight Foundation’s vice president for arts. “The arts spark dialogue that helps communities thrive, and we hope this program will make the people of Miami-Dade County feel even more connected to their community and to their museum.”

From Roy Lichtenstein to Faith Ringgold and Jose Bedia, 30 reproductions from PAMM’s permanent collection will be on view in the three communities from January to September 2016, in sets of three-month installations. Selected locations are Hialeah Park in Hialeah, Losner Park in Homestead, and Hammocks Community Park and Olympic Park in West End. Each community will have 10 artwork reproductions clustered within walking or bike-riding distance. Exact locations of each reproduction will be featured on maps available at host locations and at pamm.org/insideout.

“Being Miami-Dade County’s museum, it is our mission to facilitate meaningful engagements with art and ideas fostering an ongoing dialogue with the community,” said PAMM Director Franklin Sirmans. “We recognize that the museum is one place to do that, but our mission extends far beyond our beautiful building. Inside|Out is such an innovative program and we are honored to participate. We are tremendously thankful for the support of the Knight Foundation and each city’s government officials in helping us reach our surrounding community in such an impactful way.”

Miami is the fourth city to host Inside|Out, a program conceived by the Detroit Institute of Arts in 2010. It proved so successful in Detroit, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation is providing $2 million over three years to expand Inside|Out to communities across the country, including Philadelphia and Akron, Ohio.
