The Miami Dolphins improved to 3-0 in the season

The Miami Dolphins defense got off to a shaky start in the first quarter allowing the Atlanta Falcons to go on 14 plays for 80 yards and a touchdown. On that drive the Falcons had seven first downs and Miami defense apparently couldn’t stop them. In the first offensive series for the Dolphins, QB Ryan Tannehill fumbled the football and Miami was forced to punt on the next play. Furthermore, the Falcons extended the lead to 10-0 in the second quarter when kicker Matt Bryant connected on a 52-yard field goal.The Dolphins got a big run from running back Lamar miller for 49 yards on the first play of the next drive. Additionally, the Dolphins got on the board with a five-yard run for the touchdown to cut the lead to 10-7. The Falcons extended the lead to 13-7, when K Matt Bryant connected on a 20-yard field goal. Additionally, the Dolphins went on an 8 plays, 60 yards drive as K Caleb Sturgis connected on a 46 yards field goal. At halftime the score was Falcons 13 and Dolphins 10 and it was surprising it was a larger deficit. The Falcons had 17 first downs in the first half and Dolphins with only 7, but that didn’t stop them from getting the win. At halftime QB Ryan Tannehill was 7 -9 for 79 yards and Falcons Matt Ryan 15-17 for 118 yards had one touchdown as well. The Dolphins started the third quarter in a wrong way, as DE Osi Umenyiora forced a fumble and was recovered by DT Peria Jerry. That turnover by Miami set-up the Falcons at the Dolphins 12 yard-line and few plays later Falcons extended the lead to 20-10. The Dolphins cut the lead to 20-13 when K Caleb Sturgis connected on a 50-yard field goal. . Dolphins’ special team Don Jones forced a fumble on Falcons Hugh Douglas and was recovered by LS John Denney and changed the momentum in the game. Additionally, the Dolphins took advantage of the miscue tying the game, when QB Ryan Tannehill connected with WR Brian Hartline for 18 yards and the touchdown. In the fourth quarter, Falcons took a 23-20 lead when K Matt Bryant connected on a 33-yard field goal. Furthermore, a critical point in the game was when K Matt Bryant missed a 35-yard field goal that would have given the Falcons a 26-20 lead. The Dolphins went on a 14 plays for 75 yards and took off 4:08 off the clock to give themselves a 27-23 lead. On that drive you notice that QB Ryan Tannehill has matured into a quarterback that doesn’t fold under pressure. Head Coach Joe Philbin was asked about QB Ryan Tannehill and he answered, “It’s important. We talk all the time about how quarterbacks have to make great decisions. They have to throw the ball accurately and they have to make plays at critical times in the game. Obviously, that drive, as I mentioned before, we had to have points on that drive, and he was able to do that. QB Ryan Tannehill finished the game 24-35 for 236 yards and two touchdowns with passing rate of 94.5. The star wide receiver Mike Wallace finished the game with two receptions for 22 yards. Dolphins had a total of 285 yards, including 90 yards on the ground.
