The Dolphins released the depth chart and the questions have been answered.

The Dolphins released the depth chart yesterday in the afternoon and all the questions that were being asked have been answered. Dolphins’ running back starting role for this weekends’ matchup against the Cleveland Browns has been given to Lamar Miller, but he might have to split the carries with Daniel Thomas. In the five-preseason games, Lamar Miller averaged 2.7 yards per carries for 72 yards and Daniel Thomas 3.3 yards for 52 yards. During Coach Philbins’ press conference earlier today at Davie, he was asked about what the order of the running backs on the depth chart mean and he said “That’s the starting point for September 8th in Cleveland. That’s a starting point, really. Again, I think both guys have had a really good preseason. I think they’ve improved, both of them, and we certainly will need those guys to perform well for us.” Also, Coach Philbin was asked today on what separated Lamar Miller from Daniel Thomas and he said, “I think he played well. He caught the ball well. He ran the ball well. I thought Daniel (Thomas) did as well. It was very, very close.” The offensive line, where the coaching staff has been plugging in and out players will start with John Jerry at the right guard position. Furthermore, the Dolphins have Will Yeatman as a backup to starting left tackle Jonathan Martin and backup Josh Samuda was waived earlier today. The Dolphins are hoping that G Danny Watkins will replace Josh Samuda, but Coach Philbin stated earlier today  “We have a couple of candidates. We aren’t going to necessarily reveal that for competitive reasons, but we have some guys we feel are going to (compete). We understood that when we made that decision (to release Samuda). We feel confident we’ll have a good backup center” On the depth chart the Dolphins have Charles Clay listed as the number one tight end, Dion Sims is number two and Michael Egnew number three. The depth chart has Randy Starks and Jared Odrick listed, as number one defensive tackle alongside Paul Soliai.DE Olivier Vernon will start on the opposite side of Cameron Wake, behind Vernon on the depth chart are Vaughn Martin and Dion Jordan. The replacement for Cameron Wake on the left side is Derrick Shelby and CB Dimirti Patterson will start on the opposite side of Brent Grimes. The listed kick and punt returner will be Marcus Thigpen and no other player is listed below him on the depth chart.
