Should Darrelle Revis come back in the Preseason?

Darrelle Revis could very well play in the Week 3 preseason contest against the Miami Dolphins making his Tampa Bay Buccaneers debut after tearing his ACL last season. Currently it looks like Darrelle Revis has made a great recovery from his ACL injury suffered last year. The injury happened in Week 3 of last year’s Jets game against the Dolphins. The Jets went into overtime and won 23-20. The day following the game he was diagnosed with a torn ACL. He was then, placed on IR on October 12th and missed the remainder of the 2012 season. Revis was then traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on April 21st 2013, and signed a six-year $96 million contract.

Should Darrelle Revis play or rest this preseason? He should play because he has been practicing, he has been a part of training camp, and he’s medically cleared, but he shouldn’t play because why risk another possible injury when you have nothing to lose. He’s not in a position battle with anyone; after all, he is one of, if not the best cornerback in the NFL, also for Revis the preseason just doesn’t mean that much. For that reason he should continue to rest and rehab is knee and play in Week 1 against his former team, the Jets.

For me at the end of the day, he is cleared to play but with the preseason not meaning much of anything, him not being in a position battle for starting CB, the severity of his injury, and the time he could miss for injured again is too much the risk for him to play in the preseason. He should continue to practice, participate in training camp and most of all focus on getting 100% healthy with the ACL, and getting ready for Week 1 because he is going back to New York to take on his former team in the New York Jets and trying to prove to them that they made a huge mistake in trading him because of his injury.
