The Miami Marlins defeated the Atlanta Braves 6-2 ending a five game losing streak and avoided
getting swept. Giancarlo Stanton, went 1 for 2 with two RBI’S including a two run double in the
first inning to start a four run inning and ending a 10 games RBI drought.The Marlins also got a
huge boost from Placido Polanco who had three hits and three RBI’S and Jacob Turner only
allowed two runs on four hits.Also Placido Polanco had a double which Giancarlo Stanton scored
and Jeff Mathis added another run on a two run single.The Miami Marlins manager Mike
Redmond was pleased in the four runs during the first inning “We needed that,” manager Mike
Redmond said. “We needed to jump out to a quick start and settle everyone down, especially Jacob,
and gives ourselves a little room to breathe.” The Marlins were able to have a big first inning against lefty
Paul Maholm, but it wasn’t easy as they stranded 12 runners on base including 4-14 with runners on scoring
position.The Marlins begin a three game series on Friday against the Washington National which star
pitcher Stephen Strasburg takes the mound against Nate Eovaldi first pitch set at 7:10 pm.
