O, Miami is a biennial poetry festival in Miami, FL. Produced by the University of Wynwood with principal support provided by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, O, Miami creates a series of events and projects with the simple goal of every person in Miami-Dade County finding a poem during the month of April. Mixing traditional readings with innovative poetry-in-public-places projects, the festival weaves poetry into the fabric of the city’s existing infrastructure and cultural life.

Info: Join O, Miami as we kick of National Poetry month at Miami-Dade culinary institution El Palacio de los Jugos. We’ll unveil the 2013 tote bag with media partner WLRN-MIami Herald News. Free food and tote bag to anyone who submits a poem to our “That’s So Miami” contest.

Info: Don’t miss READING THE BEATS, presented in honor of the upcoming film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s classic novel “On the Road” (opening Friday, April 5 at the Coral Gables Art Cinema). “Surprise guests” will read excerpts from some of their favorite Beat-era poetry and prose. After the literary fun, join us for a drink or a bite in the bookstore’s courtyard and listen to the jazz-inflected music from the movie’s soundtrack CD. In collaboration with Coral Gables Art Cinema, O, Miami Poetry Festival, and Dranoff International Piano Foundation.
